The Todd at Jordanhill, Glasgow
CALA has been developing a new scheme at ‘Jordanhill' in Glasgow and now has its Todd showhome ready to show those drawn to the city.
Jordanhill is close to the elegant, bohemian West End, with its wide range of boutiques, restaurants, cafes and bars. The area has good transport links into the city centre - indeed Jordanhill station is just a short walk from the development and is close to the leafy grounds of Jordanhill University Campus.
The developer's press release is a peon of praise but, knowing the quality of their developments, the hyperbole is likely to be true: "With its clean classically modern inspired lines, spacious and light-filled interior, excellent room layout, sustainable features offering excellent energy efficiency and state-of-the art home technology, ‘The Todd' is a shining example of inspirational, forward-looking contemporary home design." Ooh, I could have written it myself.
There's more: "Not only does the four bedroom Todd have a striking exterior, which features gloriously large picture windows and timber balconies, and a stunning layout within, but hidden away are the mechanics powering the very latest in home technology which help make this home extra special." OK so far.
It appears that underfloor heating provides the home's warmth (and also removes the need for radiators). A Ventilation and Heat Recovery System circulates clean, filtered air around the house hourly. This system removes the need for fans and ventilation fittings in bathrooms and kitchens and acts as a heat recovery system in the winter, again delivering excellent efficiency and lowering heating costs. (I feel an award coming on don't you?)
An Entertainment Networking System allows the homeowner to change a socket's use between computer/aerial/telephone at the flick of a switch, hence eliminating the clutter of horrid wires.
It sounds as if you'd get a lot for your money: 2,244 square feet in all: a generous reception area, study/bedroom, utility room, integral garage, storage room and cloakroom on the ground floor and an open-tread staircase of sustainable Scandinavian timber, lit by floor to ceiling windows.
The first floor features an open plan kitchen/family and dining room, with warm wood units by Arital from Italy and stainless steel units by leading designers including Neff, all accented in the new showhome by cherry red furnishings.
There's a spacious lounge with large picture windows and balcony and the first of the luxurious bathrooms and en-suites. (we're talking sleek Laufen sanitaryware, Hansgrohe power showers and taps, Matki shower enclosures and Porcelanosa tiles.)
The galleried landing on the second floor is home to a further three bedrooms including the master bedroom which enjoys en-suite facilities.
In addition to the townhouses, there is also a range of refurbished apartments, duplexes and penthouses available at ‘Jordanhill' and two new show apartments are available to view.
The Customer Reception and all three showhomes at ‘Jordanhill' are open daily, between 11:00am and 5:30pm. For further information, please telephone CALA's Customer Reception on 0141 958 1502 or 0141 950 6913.
