The proposed redevelopment of Bingley's Shopping Centre and library into 5rise, a new, modern retail and residential destination is set to be a landmark development within a town close to Bradford and Leeds, has caught the eye of Leeds-based Sq Ft.

"We want to deliver a retail and residential destination that Bingley will be proud of. We also hope that 5rise will be an instrumental part of the regeneration process here in Bingley and a positive step forward for the town's economy," said the developer Richard Holmes of 4Urban.

Yesterday, 6th Dec 07, plans were submitted to the planning board, to replace wooden panels with rendered panels to blend with the existing stone on the extremities of 5rise and the local architecture. I'm only telling you this Sq Ft investors can see how they can still get in right at the start!

"We hope that the amended plans will be well received by Bingley residents. I am very passionate about this development, Bingley is my home town and I only want what is best for the town and I mean that hand on heart," said Richard Holmes

The architectural aspects of the proposed development have been designed to take into account many sympathetic considerations of the development's situation and surroundings.

5rise would be contained within the overall footprint of the existing centre and although small areas have been extended it is not to the detriment of its relationship with nearby buildings, including the Bradford and Bingley office and the court buildings.

"The materials chosen include stone and brick to match the existing, plus rendered panels to blend with the stone. Faux weathered copper panels gives the façade a slight contrast and create interest whilst the entrances are designed in such a way that they are brought right down to a low level, allowing a human scale to be brought to 5rise," said Mohammed Kola, FJ Architects.

The development also includes two very visually attractive curved features over the towers on the south corner junction of Main Street and Ferncliffe Road and the other on the Chapel Walk entrance, which help soften the contours of the overall development.

Kay Adams from Bingley Business Watch said:

"Absolutely fantastic! The scheme will be a major draw for shoppers. Business in the town has been in decline and the proposal will be a major boost for all traders. It is wonderful that someone wishes to invest so heavily in Bingley."

Planning permission granted, work would be due to start on site in Spring 2008 with completion within approximately eighteen months.
